Wix vs Hostinger vs Web by Lods.AI — alin pinakamabuting pagpipilian para sa Pinoy small biz?

Kapag nag-google ka ng "website builder Philippines," lalabas ang Wix, Hostinger, at WordPress. All three are legitimate, all three have Filipino users — pero iba-iba ang real customer profile nila. Itong post na ito tells you which one fits YOUR situation as a Pinoy small biz owner.

Pre-disclosure: we make our own product (Web by Lods.AI) so we have a horse in this race. We'll be honest about where Wix or Hostinger is actually better than us, kasi if we're not the right fit, you should know.

The 3 options, in 30 seconds each

Wix — DIY drag-and-drop, global brand

Sign up, pick a template, drag-and-drop. Wix's strength is design flexibility — kahit zero coding, makagawa ka ng nice-looking site. Their AI tool ADI builds you a draft based on questionnaire. Plans start at $17/mo (~₱950/mo) for the Light tier.

Hostinger — Cheap hosting, you build the site

Hostinger PH offers shared hosting + a simple website builder. The hosting is genuinely cheap (₱149/mo promo, ~₱400/mo regular). The catch: you handle the actual site building yourself, either via their basic builder or by installing WordPress.

Web by Lods.AI — Done-for-you website + hosting bundle

We scout your Google Business + Facebook Page, your Filipino Lods Design Team builds a custom site within 24 hours, you review, then GCash. Two tiers: Basic ₱8,500 setup + ₱1,000/mo from month 1, or Business Pro ₱15,000 + ₱1,800/mo with weekly auto-blog, chatbot, and auto-review replies. Both amortizable to ₱0 upfront (₱1,699/mo year 1 for Basic). Live in 5 business days.

Best for Tech-comfortable, design-focused Tech-comfortable, budget-tight Busy owners, no time to build

Use case 1: dental clinic owner in Bacolod, 2 staff, FB Page lang

Doc Ana has a 2-chair dental clinic. May FB Page with 800 followers, mostly word-of-mouth bookings via Messenger. Walang time mag-aral ng Wix. Wala ring tech-savvy staff. Bayad-GCash culture.

Best fit: Web by Lods.AI

She doesn't have time to DIY (Wix/Hostinger both fail). Freelancer route would cost ₱25-60k. Our ₱8,500 GCash + 5 days to live is exactly her speed. Plus the chatbot handles 70% of "magkano cleaning?" Messenger questions automatically.

Use case 2: tech-comfortable freelancer launching her photography brand

Mia is a freelance photographer building a portfolio. She's comfortable with Canva, Figma, basic tech. Has time on weekends. Cares deeply about design polish.

Best fit: Wix or Squarespace

Wix gives her pixel-level design control + portfolio templates that suit her aesthetic. The DIY time investment is the FEATURE for her — she wants to tweak. Our automated approach would frustrate her.

Use case 3: tight-budget mechanic shop in Iloilo, owner is tech-confident

Carlos runs a 1-bay auto shop. Budget is ₱5,000 total for the year. Comfortable Googling tutorials, has watched WordPress YouTube videos.

Best fit: Hostinger + free WordPress

If he genuinely has the patience to learn WordPress, Hostinger's ₱149/mo + free WP install + free theme is the cheapest legitimate route. ₱1,800/year, total. The trade-off: 40+ hours of his time. If his time is worth more than ₱5/hour, our ₱8,500 actually wins.

Use case 4: full-service salon chain, 4 branches, ready for marketing investment

Lola Salon has 4 locations across Cebu. They're ready to invest in SEO, paid ads, brand consistency. Budget: ₱100-300k.

Best fit: PH agency (NOT us)

At this scale, they need strategy + multi-location SEO + ongoing marketing. An agency at ₱150-300k delivers more than we can. We're built for solo to 5-staff biz — bigger needs different scaffolding.

The hidden Wix problem nobody talks about

Wix lock-in. Once you build on Wix, exporting to another platform is essentially impossible — you'd be rebuilding from scratch. The platform also increases prices on renewal years. Their Light plan was $7/mo in 2022, now $17/mo. By 2028 it'll likely be $25-30/mo.

Squarespace has the same dynamic. WordPress.org doesn't (your files are portable), pero you pay in complexity.

The hidden Hostinger problem

Hostinger's promo prices (₱149/mo etc.) are introductory only. They renew at 2-4× the rate. That ₱149/mo becomes ₱400-₱700/mo after Year 1. They also upsell endlessly: backup add-on ₱99/mo, SSL upgrade, email hosting, security add-on. The "₱149/mo website" can easily become ₱1,200/mo bundle.

Read your renewal terms carefully. If they say "₱149/mo for the first year, then regular pricing applies" — that's the trap.
